Twelfth Night and Epiphany
A blessing for renewed strength and empowerment for the residents of the Cecil
Wrap-Up: The 12 Days of Christmas
As the 12 Days of Christmas have drawn to a close, we reflect on the profound themes that have shaped this sacred season: hope renewed, justice proclaimed, and healing offered to a broken world.
Throughout these days, we have recalled the arrival of Christ, whose birth in a humble manger challenges systems of oppression and offers a radical vision of love and equality. We've been reminded that hope is born in the darkest nights, that justice rolls down like waters when we act with courage, and that healing is found when we embrace our shared humanity.
The Feast of the Epiphany reminds us of the Magi who sought the Christ Child, bringing gifts of reverence and recognition. Their journey mirrors our own call to seek and serve the Divine in every person, especially those on society’s margins. As I inscribed the Epiphany blessing above the door of the Cecil Hotel, we prayed and continue to pray this place becomes a space of healing, hope, and justice for all who pass through.
Prayer of Blessing
God of Hope and Healing,
Bless this place, the Cecil Hotel, and all who make it their home.
May it be a sanctuary for the weary,
A shelter for those seeking justice,
And a beacon of hope for all who enter.
May Your presence inspire healing where there is hurt,
Compassion where there is indifference,
And courage where there is fear.
Guide us to be agents of Your justice,
Bringers of Your peace,
And bearers of Your hope to a world in need.
In the name of the One who came to heal and restore,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
