Every Family is Holy

The story of the Holy Family—Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus—reminds us that every family is holy, no matter their circumstances. Today, too many families are torn apart by homelessness and poverty, struggling to find stability and hope. But their worth and dignity remain as sacred as ever.

At places like the Cecil Hotel, we see families trying to rebuild their lives. These families are often broken, shattered and spread across the vastness of the city. They need more than a roof over their heads. They need mental health support, affordable childcare, and opportunities to heal and grow. Every family deserves to feel safe, supported, and whole. Every family needs to experience the holiness of being together. There is a significant lack of family housing and family support opportunities across the country, but the lack is more apparent in Los Angeles than just about anywhere.

Our work focuses on offering that support. Through life skills programs, food assistance, and one-on-one help, we’re standing with families as they take steps toward reunification. But we can’t do it alone. Real change also requires policies like affordable housing and childcare that give families the tools to thrive.
