On the Eve of Giving Tuesday
The changing landscape of social services makes your help even more vital to our work.
As we head into Giving Tuesday, I can’t ignore how much has changed around us. Public support keeps getting chipped away, little by little, and the first people to feel it are the ones with the least margin. At the Cecil, that shows up in more empty cupboards, more quiet asks for help, more folks trying to stretch what can’t be stretched anymore.
If you’re able, I’m asking you to support our work directly this year.
I know you’re getting a hundred requests this week — every inbox, every feed, every nonprofit pulling on your sleeve. But this kind of support goes straight to food, stability, and dignity for our neighbors. There’s no middle layer. It’s immediate, practical, and felt.
And still — even in all the need — I see hope every day. Not the Hallmark kind, but the real kind that shows up through people who choose kindness when it isn’t easy. That’s why your support matters now more than ever. When the larger system pulls back, community steps forward. It’s you.
Your generosity keeps people fed, steady, and seen. It gives dignity a fighting chance in a world that forgets how important that is.
So as we enter Giving Tuesday, thank you. Thank you for caring, for staying with us, for believing this work is worth it even when everything feels stretched thin.
If you can give today or tomorrow, please do.
It helps more than you know — and I’m grateful you’re here.
You can become a monthly or annual supporter by becoming a Friend of the Cecil. Your ongoing support will ensure our mission continues month after month.
